Yeah, but you should've seen the other guy...

Poor Spence, he's had a rough go lately. He looks like he's been tackled by a whole football team, or a least something big and gnarly. But alas, he's taken tumbles off the couch and the bed - and inconveniently landed on debris - (i.e. a big plastic bowl, and some sort of toy truck.) I know, I know, you're probably thinking it's all just a clever alibi for my violent tendencies - but I swear, I don't beat this one... :) He's the innocent child... he he. So far anyway. But really, I know that I've not given very much play to my sweet 9 month-old Spencer on the blog. I've been waiting for him to stand up on his own for about 10 seconds, and me to digitally capture it for the post; he's THIS close to doing it on demand, (imagine me making the gesture of putting my thumb and forefinger mere centimeters apart.) But, he's still being a little choosy about when and where he wants to accomplish this task. So for now, I'll just defend myself by saying this: Spence really is super special to me, even though I don't have many pics of him on the blog. He has an amazing spirit and is just always pleasant and happy. People cannot help loving him - really. When we're at the store, people are like, obsessed with this smiley baby. This picture pretty much covers it - always smiling in spite of potentially painful circumstances, (like his older brother). Such a good kid, and I love him a lot. There will definitely be more to come on my praising dear Spencington Arugula Bajoogula, -fancy nickname, eh?.

mike-er-wave magic?

So, we went to Apple Ridge Apple Orchard today, and it was really fun. We took a wagon ride, and there were lots of animals and a fun corn maze that we enjoyed. Ben's favorite part was picking stuff. He picked an apple off a tree when he wasn't supposed to - and promptly ate the whole thing, (core included). He begged me to let him pick an old dead, bug-eaten ear of corn from the corn maze. I figured there was probably no harm in it because it was dead anyway - they can't sell it or anything, so I let him pick it and put it in our goody bag - Shhh! don't tell anyone we're neighborhood miscreants! :) We got home, and pulled all our treasures out of the bag to evaluate our spoils (a small dirty pumpkin, some little apples, and a dead ear of corn), and, to my dismay, Ben's greatest heart's desire is still the old dead corn. He immediately started to pull the husks off the ear.
Katie- "Honey, you know that is hard and gross don't you - it's not for eating."
Ben- "No it's not gross."
Then, he bites it - "Oh. It is hard mom."
K- "See, I told you. Moms are right sometimes."
B- "Mom, put it in the mike-er-wave and then it will be soft again."

Funny kid.

Ain't no fool...

So, Ben is such a special kid - he makes life fun and is so loving and great. I don't know what I'd do without him. Yesterday, he sat on my lap facing me, and just stared at my face. Then he slowly started touching my forehead, and I asked him what he was doing. He said "I am touching this bump." Sadly, he noticed my developing zit! What an eye for detail! Either that, or it's more obvious than I thought and I guess I'm done pretending my skin is better than an eighth grader's... bummer... :(
Also, we just found out today that he has to have surgery for the hernia on his belly. It's so tiny, I haven't worried about it for a long time, but he just has to get it taken care of before adulthood. I think we might do it soon though and I'll probably blog about it later.

Big Headed

So, I'm starting to think that I shouldn't have posted all those pictures of me with different hair. It seems a little, oh I don't know, conceited that I have all these pictures of myself on a "family blog". I swear that I'm not obsessed with myself. I just thought that website was cool. So, with that said, I apologize if you think that I'm a megalomaniac - (I actually don't know what that word means, but I've always liked it and wanted to use it; I think it means narcissistic or something like that.) So, sorry for having a big head, and a possible misuse of a big vocabulary word.

Yeah, I'm a little slow.

Here are some pics from Ben's birthday and when we got his pics done a couple of weeks ago. September was a while ago now - but hey, there's only so much I can do... in a month and a half.

Hair Scare?

So, I've been having fun trying out new looks on this website lately. You should totally do it at hairmakeover.instyle.com. Any votes for going blonde? I know this looks a bit like a mullet, but you'll have to ignore the brown hair on my shoulders (even though having a mullet is my secret ambition.) :)

Pants on Fire? No, but if they were - at least we'd be in the right place.

Yesterday, we went to the Fire Station with our playgroup. Ben had a lot of fun, and he really likes "fighter-fighters." Ben loves his friend Isaac - and they had a good time.

No originality at all...

I know, I know, it's all the rage to blog these days - but y'know, I guess I'm just a sheep. I can't help it - when you read other people's blogs all the time, you start looking at life in terms of "blog-worthy" and "un-blog-worthy." And I find myself thinking, "that would be good to put on a blog; I really should start one..." and so on, and so forth, etc., etc. So, that's it - that's the reason I'm doing this. Just to have some place to write down all the random thoughts in my head, and random actions of my kids. And maybe, just maybe, my family will want to follow along. I know I run the risk that Kristi is going to be the only one who reads this, but I guess that's a chance I'm willing to take...
